Exploration Galore with World Heritage Sites in India

  • India is a land of rich cultural diversity. Each region of the country has its own unique culture, customs and heritage. This diversity has also given birth to architectural wonders that differ from each other vastly. UNESCO, which is a part of the United Nations, is an agency that aids in conservation of natural beauty and heritage of countries around the world. It is also instrumental in promoting science, education and culture.
  • Since 1983 UNESCO has included 32 properties in the World Heritage list, of which 25 are significant for Cultural Heritage while 7 are recognized for Natural Heritage. These sites are of immense natural and cultural importance for India. Moreover, the country has submitted 33 more sites to be included in the coveted list.

The Importance of Inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List

  • When UNESCO recognizes a heritage site, it naturally attracts immense attention and care from the government for its conservation. There is an element of exclusivity involved with the recognition that makes the site popular and brings about a greater awareness of its antecedence. Care is naturally taken to protect and conserve these heritage sites for the future generations, so that they can find their cultural roots and also study them.

Vacation India is Thankful to the Archaeological Survey of India

  • We express our heart-filled gratitude to the Archaeological Survey of India, the Government agency that has relentlessly endeavored to conserve, protect, and maintain the cultural heritage of India, paving the way to quench the curiosity of researchers and admirers from around the world.
  • As Indian nationals, it makes us proud to have been bred in a land that boasts such rich culture and a wealth of archaeological marvels. Along with this pride comes the responsibility of aiding in preservation and maintenance of these magnificent properties. Vacation India also feels that it is our moral obligation to project a clean image of India to the outside world through ethical and responsible behavior.
We wish you a very happy and insightful experience!
