Rajasthan round trip with New Delhi and Agra

Rated 5 out of 5

**This review was written in German and has been translated using Google Translator

From the 1st to the 15th of October we traveled through the Indian state of Rajasthan. We had booked an individual trip for two persons with: Mr. Vikas Agrawal

During our search on the Internet we came across this address by chance.

Starting with the first contacts, transmission of necessary information, visa procurement etc. everything worked out perfectly. The organization on site and support by a German-speaking tour guide who accompanied us during the whole trip and additional, absolutely safe and experienced driver with an excellent and spacious car leaves nothing to be desired. The entire itinerary , the many impressions that were conveyed, made the trip for us an unforgettable experience that we would not want to miss. We are grateful to the tour operator, the tour guide and the driver for unforgettable days in a world that was new to us.

The different hotels all corresponded to the upscale European classification. The staff was always friendly and courteous and in an almost amiable way concerned about our well-being.

The daily schedule of the trip was very varied and in addition to numerous sightseeing tours, trips by bicycle rickshaw, tuktuk, train and boat trip, as well as a camel ride through the dunes at sunset were offered, which we gladly took advantage of.

Unfortunately, a wonderful trip went by much too quickly.

Trip through Gujarat

Rated 5 out of 5

First a big thank you to our trip organizer and another thank you to Vikas and his team who were responsible for the actual execution. India is big and has a lot to offer in terms of interesting buildings, different crafts and culture. We decided to do a round trip through Gujarat. For me it was the first time and these big contrasts between the cleanliness e.g. in the temples and the many garbage outside I found frightening. But the people are very hospitable and the country is worth seeing. The support during our trip worked wonderfully. It was an interesting experience and I was able to look beyond my own nose again. Taj Mahal, Rajasthan Tour & Varanasi

Rated 5 out of 5

**This review was written in German and has been translated using Google Translator

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Vikas and the rest of the team for the incredible trip and the great organization. The route, the respective guides in the cities, the car, our driver Madan…everything was perfect!

We have inquired about the route in advance of the trip and were already full of joy because of that, but the actual trip is then almost beyond words. Even the “boring” trips between destinations can be enjoyed because you see a lot of the country and the people.

We booked with Vikas the trip from Delhi, for a total of 10 days with good hotels and our own driver!

Details of our itinerary:

Arrived in Delhi we were warmly picked up by our driver Madan. The car was TipTop clean, air-conditioned, WATER was also cold! We started the round trip in the car in New Delhi. We were allowed to choose what we wanted to see and we chose the Sikh Temple and Old Delhi, the old city. The Sikh temple Gurudwara Bangla Sahib was already noticeable from a distance. We took a look at the entire kitchen including the food serving area and then moved on to the actual prayer hall. We are really impressed by the Sikh and their religion and of course the values and customs.

Afterwards we went over to Old Delhi. There we took the bicycle rickshaw and drove with our guide through the old narrow streets. One feels like set back in time, as if from a thousand and one nights…indescribable.

After the sightseeing tour we drove with our driver Madan to Agra to the Taj Mahal. Sure, the drive then takes times 3 hours, but the next morning you know it was worth it. We were accommodated in the Hotel Ramada and were very satisfied. The next morning we had a German-speaking guide who gave us the complete history of the Taj with all the side stories. Our guide was also a pro at picture taking, as he always knew exactly where to take the best ones from. There are a lot of tourists on site, that was slightly annoying, but it was not super crowded. After the Taj Mahal, we then looked at the Agra Fort.

Then we went to the tiger park Rhantambore. The trip took about 3 hours. The hotel there was also very good and so were the two safari tours. Only the tigers did not want to show themselves, but the landscape was breathtaking! One must have however already luck, if one would like to see a tiger by the coincidental assignment into the forest districts. With the first district we have seen still very many footprints, in the afternoon with the second it seemed to me rather in such a way, as if no tigers had been there. However, other tourists had also not much luck, except an American who could take up the big cat from all perspectives.

The next morning our friendly driver Madan picked us up again and we drove to Bundi. Compared to other Indian cities, Bundi is practically a village with just 100k inhabitants. The first thing we did there was to visit the old fort, of course after checking in at the small boutique hotel. The fortress is not as well preserved as other forts, but the murals at the top must be seen if you want to understand the Hindi religion as a non-Hindu better. Our guide there was very accommodating and was always available to help us with any details and always knew when we needed more or less time. This was very pleasant because we could be guided by the impressions. Afterwards we also walked with him into the city through the bazaar. You should definitely treat yourself to the famous “Krishna Chai Restaurant” there. Have rarely drunk such a delicious chai.

The next day we went to Devgarh. We were able to check in there directly at the Deogarh Mahal and then had time to relax. Devgarh is also a small town for Indian conditions, but the life of the locals is closer than anywhere else. In the evening, we treated ourselves to a tour of the city – with a guide, of course – and had virtually every corner shown to us. Back at the hotel/palace we had dinner followed by dancing and music.

The next morning, the Rural Monkey Train was on the schedule and although I’m a commuter, of course this ride was breathtaking…like 100 years ago, with fabulous landscapes and gorges. But always remember the monkeys…they are hot for food! After the train ride we visited the Jain temple Ranakpur nearby. I could type 1.0 million characters here and try to describe it, but I would fail. I kept wondering how they managed to do it and also how much time it must have taken until it was really finished.

Next on the schedule was Jodhpur, the blue city with the huge fortress on the rock. Next to it was the small Taj Mahal. The fortress was extremely well preserved. The rooms show a magnificence as you know it from European super class castles and there are not really moments where you get bored. After the tour, we went down to the old town and our guide took us through the market. We stocked up on spices, had a snack and then drove to Jaipur with our lovely driver Madan. This was the longest stretch of the whole tour, but with two breaks it was still bearable.

Arrived in Jaipur we checked in at the Ramada Hotel. We were lucky because it was Diwali. All streets were decorated, just like you know it from in Germany at Christmas. In the evening we strolled – without a guide – through the streets near the hotel and tried here and there something, bought, looked etc.. It was very homely…you didn’t feel like a stranger.

The next day we went to see all the sights in Jaipur. Jaipur is the largest city in Rajasthan and therefore rich in culture and history. We had again a German-speaking guide, who was very understanding and gave us enough time to let everything sink in. Beautiful is also here the fortress outside the city!!! By the way, we decided against the elephant ride at the fortress and let us drive directly up to the fortress. We found that does not have to be more..the animals should not suffer.

After Jaipur we flew to Varanasi to crown our trip. The hotel there was great!!! Friendly staff, great rooms. In the evening we were picked up and went to the ghats and the all evening ceremony there. It was like being in another country. The people, the streets, the life, the ceremony in the evening at the Ganges….how do you describe something like that if you don’t know it? You just enjoy it and try to understand what the meaning of life is 🙂

The next day we also went to see Sarnath. Buddha was omnipresent!!! So much history, so much religion, so many faiths so close together…I was already proud just to have seen it! By the way, our German speaking guide named Prem was excellent. Besides being very friendly, he was like a walking encyclopedia. Due to his age we walked through Varanasi and Sarnath in a relaxed way, but I think that’s exactly what it takes to be able to fully give yourself to the life there.

Unfortunately, the next morning everything was over and we took a flight to Mumbai and from there back to Frankfurt.

In summary I can say that I am very grateful to Vikas and the whole team with all the guides. I never had the feeling that something was badly organized!!! Can also only recommend it to all of you to visit India with Vikas, Madan and his team…especially if you want to see a lot and experience a lot of the culture.

It was my seventh trip to India and I can say that the most incredible of all that I have made to date (and it will not be the last).

For almost 20 years I have dreamed of getting to know Kashmir and Ladakh, the little Tibet, but political problems prevented me from going to that region of India over and over again, which I can assure you is the most fabulous of all the ones I have visited to date. Its so different people, its art, monasteries, lakes, in short, its exceptional humanity has captivated us from day one.

I contacted Vikas by chance in the month of April, and immediately achieved a harmony that bore fruit in this perfectly organized trip. Congratulations because we have not had a single failure.

NARESH, our friend, our exceptional companion and today a friend on this great journey, has been an incomparable piece that has made the journey, -which I already knew-, much more pleasant. His sympathy, his knowledge, his more than acceptable Spanish, his desire to please, his education, everything, absolutely everything, has been perfect.

And what about the tour: who wants to know unique places in the world, dream landscapes, come to Kashmir and Ladakh. Trust Vikas and especially NARESH.

Thank you, thank you, both of you

A hug

An Exceptional Experience Through Northern India's Rajastan

Rated 5 out of 5

This was my 6th trip to India and this time it would be different, not the normal tourist run ;. an India from a different perspective. During my researches I came across a company called Classic Holidays “Vacation India” with a Mr Vikas Agarwal as it’s CEO. “Rajastan Off the Beaten Track”. This was a private tour with my own Driver/Guide in a brand new Toyota SUV. My driver was a “Sea of Calm in an Ocean of Chaos” and drove 2000 Km safely through Rajastan without a single hitch. He became my companion and a true friend.

Showed me places I would think… never existed. From Amritsar to Delhi to Agra to Jaipur to Jodhpur on to Jaisalmer and finally Udaipur. I travelled by train and also by air. I had the very best Street Food in the world.

I visited temples hidden in back streets and shopped in places that tourist never find. I drank the best Masala Chai and mingled with Indians from all walks of life and not once did I feel unsafe. For those who think India is not safe to travel are totally wrong. If you reject the food ignore the customs fear the religion and avoid the people you might better stay at home. On my trip I chose to stay in 4 to 5 * Havelli’s and mostly outside of the City centers.

I would also recommend to stay 2 to 3 nights at each destination to relax and rewind. Vikas of Vacation India was a true Gem He was always obliging, 100% efficient, very well organised totally reliable A perfect holiday with a genuine company.
