Tamil Nadu and Kerala, a journey between temples, pilgrims and tea plantations
**This review was written in German and has been translated using Google Translator
After a Rajasthan tour in 2016/17, my wife and I also wanted to get to know southern India.
When we were looking for an agency for individual round trips, we ended up on the “vacationindia.com” website.
With Vikas Agrawal as agent and travel planner, we had found the right man
to book an individual trip.
Our tour started in Chennai and ended back in Chennai after 14 days.
We were very enthusiastic about the first tours in Mamallapuram and Kanchipuram, here really great people, grandiose temples and during our travel time thousands of pilgrims completely captivated us!!
Our tour continued via Pondicherry, Tanjore, Trichy to Chettinad, one of the most impressive small towns on our tour for us.
In Chettinad we were welcomed by a really great hotel, “The Bangala”, especially since the place is also known as an insider tip for tasty cuisine, which we can fully confirm.
The next stops on our impressive journey were the temple city of Madurai and the Periyar National Park in Thekkady.
For us, one of the loveliest parts of the south was the soothing tea and spice plantations surrounding the hill town of Munnar.
We caught a dream day during our visit to the Eravikulam National Park, where we were able to experience a great mountain world with evergreen tea plantations on a hike up to almost 2000 meters above sea level.
Our onward journey went to Alleppy on the backwaters, here we undertook an overnight houseboat trip, which went a little differently than we had hoped.
After this excursion on the water, we made a stop at Mararikulam Beach where the Indian Ocean welcomed us.
Here we had a hotel in a great beach location, with an irretrievable sunset that some locals also used for an evening swim.
The port and fishing metropolis of Cochin was impressive for us, here you can still experience the flair of the colonial era up close.
After an evening domestic flight we landed back at the starting point of our round trip in Chennai. The best hotel of our round trip was the “GRT Grand Hotel”, a top hotel with a great restaurant and very tasty food.
The last day of travel took us through the 4 largest city in India, which is still very much characterized by colonial influences.
Unfortunately, this trip also ended far too quickly and we had to adjust to wintry Bavaria again.
Finally, we would like to thank our great driver Sundara Moorthy again, he accompanied us everywhere with his car and fulfilled every feasible wish.
We were very satisfied with our different guides, they gave us interesting insights into the way of life, brought the different faiths closer and gave information about the cultures of southern India.
My wife and I particularly liked this way of experiencing such a round trip with our own driver and we will certainly repeat this at some point on another tour!
AN UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE

The trip from the beginning was incredible, after arriving in New Dehli and staying there for work for a few days, we started; Celeste and I had an incredibly well-planned and perfectly organized tour, we stayed in first-class hotels and we always had our driver who helped us with everything and was super friendly and respectful, we visited Humayun’s tomb, and we had the wonderful experience of visiting The Gurwara Banla Sahib Sikh Temple where we participate in the solidarity tasks that can be carried out there, our guide was very nice throughout the tour and helped us to fully understand what was happening inside where peace surrounds you almost by surprise. We also visit Old Dehli aboard a Rickshaw, there with its skies full of cables where the madness of the city mixes with the colors of the clothes and the smells between spaced and intense make this ride an unmissable experience.
Then we started the trip towards the Golden Triangle, we visited Agra, the Taj Mahal amazed us with its greatness, we also visited Ghandi’s tomb and we met the Agra Fort, the whole journey was intense and with each step we felt more enchanted by this country so old and contradictory, our guide always accompanied us and translated perfectly.
Then we went to Jaipur, a charming city, full of shops and bazaars, we toured the Amber Fort, there we had the dream experience of riding an elephant and discovered the splendor of the ancient cultures that lived there.
We finished our tour flying to the city of Varanassi, and what else to tell you…, it was a unique experience, living the night ceremony on the banks of the Ganges, and seeing the sunrise the next day from a boat has no possible description, the whole trip was incredible and the organization, the punctuality, the guides and the choice of hotels was perfect. Thanks VacationIndia.com, thanks Vikas for your professionalism and thanks to everyone who works with you because it was unforgettable thanks to you.
A dream come true

For years I have been planning my trip to India, it was always a place that caught my attention, I bought my plane ticket and then I knew I was going, but I had no idea how to make this experience unique, I looked on Trip Advisor and I found the vacationindia.com page.
From the first contact Vikas and Jorgelina were friendly, helpful and very professional, but I had no idea how important they were going to be on this trip.
They helped me review and plan what was important to me, the places and experiences I wanted to know and that’s how I purchased my package with them, all via WhatsApp and mail, 24/7, easy and effective communication.
The day of the big trip arrived and I have to emphasize that more than an agency they were a constant company, everything planned and specified in the program went perfectly, they were always aware of any change or situation so that my experience was positive, one morning I woke up With a message from Vikas that one of my trains had been canceled and during the night I had already organized a solution for that situation, I felt safe and calm.
The assigned guides and drivers were of the highest quality, it is important for me to mention Gulab, a driver who accompanied me most of the time and was a friend at all times, in the same way the representative who received me in Khajuraho, where I was only going to see the Kamasutra temples made my two days in the town magical, he invited me to his house, with his family, I was able to visit the local community and school and that marked my life.
During the trip I had the idea of visiting a festival, I asked Vikas for her support and I was able to live that great experience, her service was always flexible and with the interest that my experience as a client be good, safe and of quality.
I could mention each place as special and I really recommend all of them, but what marked me the most was the Trek in the Himalayas, the Yoga days in Rishikesh, the Taj Mahal, the Hotel in Orchha, it seemed like an old palace, a very fun experience was to go to see a Bollywood movie in Jaipur, in a classic movie theater that looks like it’s from the fifties, an Ayurveda treatment center in Khajuraho and without a doubt the Kumbh Mela festival.
It was a very significant trip for me to enjoy every moment, sight, place, smells and tastes, colors, history, culture, faith and devotion, long journeys, trains, ceremonies, rivers and mountains, contact with nature and animals, respect for life and death, hours thinking, feeling, meditating, yoga, sunrises and sunsets, noise and silence, architecture, temples and palaces, but what I enjoy most It was the contact with these incredible people that made my experience unique and unforgettable, thank you for making me feel at home.
Thank you Vikas and Jorgelina, all the drivers and guides and the people who received me and shared a little piece of India, Thank you VacationIndia for your service and professionalism.
Namaste

This South India trip was something very special for me.
We traveled with a car and driver (organized by Vikas). This individual way of traveling allowed us to really immerse ourselves in the country. Have been allowed to experience a lot of places as the only white skin.
The people are all very friendly, the various temples and places are very beautiful.
The driver is very competent, the organization is great, the various guides are very nice and enjoy the tours.
I would be happy to book another trip to India through Vikas “vacationindia.com”!
Fabulous Holidays in Rajasthan
Not only do Vikas Agarwal and his team know how to quickly adapt to the needs of their clients, but they also take the concept of “service-oriented” to a whole other level. I didn’t have much time to plan my month-long trip to India and I found Vacation India to be the right company to do the job for me. I shared with them my must sees and interests and Vacation India put together a great itinerary – off the beaten path in a route as touristic as Rajasthan and full of local experiences and culinary delights. I booked a solo tour of Rajasthan, Nagaland and Goa. Vikas made sure everything worked like a Swiss watch, although it wasn’t made easy for him and his team due to the last-minute changes in flights and schedule. Everyone at Vacation India was very attentive and made sure I was comfortable at all times. This was especially appreciated because it is not always easy to be a woman traveling alone in India. I didn’t feel uncomfortable at all as my driver Mr. Gulav not only drove me around but also took care of my safety.
Vikas and his team always had a “can do” attitude which I appreciated especially when I didn’t have much time to plan this trip.
I have booked tours with many other travel agencies but what sparked Vacation India is their deep knowledge of India that goes beyond the traditional locations and their exceptional care for their customers – they always go the extra mile. I was interested in Yoga in Goa and Vikas found some options for me. He didn’t have to do this as it wasn’t part of the package I bought from Vacation India. I will definitely repeat with Vacation India.
